Disbelief / Ongeloof

What started out as a gorgeous day, has turned into a national tragedy. Latest news is that in Apeldoorn 4 people got killed and several were seriously injured when a man drove his car through the crowds watching the Royal bus go past. I heard it around half 1, when I got a call from big S, who had gone home to put wee S to bed. I did stay in town, selling our books and crocheting my bag, but the joy had certainly gone out of the day. Pictures of my Bea bag so far can wait...

Queen's Day / Koninginnedag

Image
Tomorrow we're celebrating our Queen's Day, a tradition since 1980 when she became queen and decided her mother's birthday should become a national holiday. Queen Beatrix travels to a different city or region each year and the entire country parties like there is no tomorrow. One of the traditions is the 'vrijmarkt', and this year we will be there again, selling loads of cuddly toys, books and videos - and hopefully earn loadsamoney, to buy more toys, books and YARN!

Garden life / Het tuinleven

Life has moved outside here. During the day, it's great to sit outside to work. That's the joy of having a laptop! I can sit and work, while Sam plays in the garden, alone or with one or more of the girls from our street, and while the bunnies sunbathe and groom their coats. Plants and flowers are bursting with life and colour. And then you realize you have way too little time to enjoy it all. So this week, I'm taking it easy! Time to enjoy the good weather, spend time at the allotment, and just... well... do things I want to do.

A bit quiet.../Een beetje stil...

On the blog front... That's what you get when you combine Easter celebrations, birthdays and a lot of work... Not much time for knitting, let along blogging about it. But I promise, I have some pictures and news, I just need to find the time to post all of it here...

Room for only one redhead in the family...

Image
And here she is! Say hello to Rosaline! Our new redhead beauty: Isn't she gorgeous? We saw her when we went to get rabbit food from the pet shop, as we had forgotten it on our regular supermarket shop. And me and pet shops, that's a dangerous combination... We had a guineapig like this before, little Harry, and when we saw Rosaline, it was love at first sight. She's only 8 weeks old, and a lot smaller than she looks. Such a head (uhm, body) of hair, unbelievable! And so cute! Also, a little update on what I'm up to knitting-wise at the moment. I finished my Salida socks. They are very comfy, and I almost wish I had knit them toe-up (which would have been possible with the pattern), as I quiet like long-ish socks. Next time! This is definitely a pattern to repeat: With the yarn I bought at the Maxx (ED: a discount store which sells a lot of XXXXX, but occasionally has some real finds, like now, with quality yarn and fabric), I started a Drops pattern. It's quite l

Deadline? What deadline?

Turns out my deadline for today was not for today. Me blond... I have until at least next week to get this Menopauze book translated... How I got to think it was today? Who knows... Time to dye my hair blond again, and a new look for the blog... And a piccie of our latest addition to the family... in a bit (first find camera and cable...)...
