Handwerken zonder grenzen

WIPS and FIPS...

Image
Hooray, finally managed to get some piccies off the camera... Here my first Traveler's stocking. The colour is quite lurid, I have to agree, but then again, you do want socks like these to make an impression. Or not? I have now knitted past the heel, and have a little bit more to go... When I will start sock 2 I don't know. I want to do something else first... I know, my calves are huge... I cycle a lot... That's my excuse... Here is Isabella... I'm already bored with it... Will probably stay a WIP for a while... Nice cotton, nice colour, but all stockinette!!! Boring... Maybe I'll knit the front first, with the V-neck... Not one of my WIPs, but worth a mention. This is wat I got from wee H on Mother's Day... Cute hey... It's been baked in the oven now, so it's dishwasher proof! The Gentleman's Socks for big S. They photograph terribly, look even worse, but are lovely on the foot... And look at this! I can crochet! Well, it's my first attempt. St

Sushi!

Image
Food and knitting go together very well... I love sushi... This is my first ever attempt to make sushi myself. I have to say I'm rather good at it :-)

Lace cap

Image
Very secretly I knitted Lacecap from Knitty's site. Only took two evenings... Easy peasy... It looks totally different from the picture, but then again, I did use thicker cotton and a variegated yarn, Rio, red-pink. It fits perfectly (big head me...) and I actually wore it today, even though it was warm... I did notice some mistakes, which makes the pattern go 'off', but that was easily solved. I also made it a bit shorter, to prevent turning into an Egghead... Big S now lovingly calls me 'Abba head'. Ach well, there are worse things...

Here come the soakers!!!

Image
After having looked at new ways to contain baby S's diapers, I decided to ditch the PUL and start knitting soakers. I bought two nice colours of Fortissima Socka to start with (light cornflower blue and moss green) and two plain balls, which I intend to die myself after knitting, to get a nice two-tone effect... I also got some wool preparation, to make sure the soakers soak and don't leak! I also stumbled on some nice fabrics in the market, 5 euros a meter, bargain... I only need half a meter, so this was really my sale of the week... I was tempted to buy more, but didn't...

Hooray, more diapers!

Image
I love the way I can just finish two of them on a night, easily... I do not love the way that baby S can just fill them up within an even shorter space of time...

I promise to stop reading blogs all day...

HELP, I NEED HELP!!! Since I started reading a few knitting blogs, I have now accumulated a list of about twenty blogs I click through whenever I'm feeding baby S. That would not be a problem, if all those lovely knitster not all also have a list of about twenty blogs on their site. And so I keep clicking, and clicking, and clicking. Oo-ing here, aaah-ing there... 'My, I HAVE to have that pattern...' 'Wow, that would be THE PERFECT baby gift for D...' 'I want that yarn for my next pair of socks...' And so it has come to the point that while I should be working - i.e. whenever baby S is asleep or playing happily - I am still clicking about the Internet like there's no tomorrow... I HAVE TO STOP READING BLOGS ALL DAY I HAVE TO STOP READING BLOGS ALL DAY WORK BEFORE PLEASURE WORK BEFORE PLEASURE Is there a selfhelp group for knitting blog addicts? I just hope it's not another website... ;-)))

Hey...

Would that not be a greating Mothering Day present for me, myself and I...? Darn, I just told big S not to buy me anything (but love)... I'll just save it all up for whenever I can call in a favour again :-)

Sahara

I want it too... I do a lot of blog reading (hmm... would this be the reason I'm always rushing to get work done before a deadline?) and when I was on her blog, I saw her latest great thing: the Sahara . Wow... I want it too! So, added to the wish list is Stitch Diva's pattern...

Yeah, time for new socks!

Hooray, I finished big S's socks! This means that one project moves from in progress to finished and another one moves from the wishlist to in progress... I'm also thinking of casting on the Isabella top tonight... At least do some swatching. As soon as I've finished the top part of my sock, that is what I'm gonna do. A whole night of telly and knitting. Heaven... Especially with a lovely cup of Senseo from our new machine which we bought with our Queen's Day money... And if I had enough energy to bake those cherry cup cakes, it would be even better, but they will have to wait, unfortunately. I would lose valuable knitting time! As soon as I have the top of the first sock done, I'll post a picture. It already looks super cool, even though I'm thinking my yarn is a bit too bright for it... But we NEED bright socks when the weather is nice like this! Okay, as promised, piccies of the socks for big S. He likes them big and loose, so if you think I knitted them
