A crafty weekend

Image
This was one much-anticipated weekend... We were going to the Handwerkbeurs in Zwolle ! This craft fair is absolutely amazing, chockful of traders, not only for knitting and crochet, but also for other crafts. We were a bit on the late side, so I immediately ran to my Swedisch embroidery course, by Blomsterstuga . Excuse my terrible picture, but this is my first attempt at 'yllebroderi'. The beginning of a cover for my BlackBerry It was great to brush up on skills that I have, and to get to know a bit more about the traditional Swedish patterns... After I finished this workshop, Mermaid started hers. She had been walking around with Hubby, and she saw that it was possible to make 'whish hearts', something she really wanted to give a try: Utter concentration... Even though I am a experienced crafter myself, I suffer from a condition which has stopped me passing on what I know up to now: lack of patience... It takes time to teach a (now) 8-year-old how to do a bl...

Booty!

I had a great time last Saturday at the Handwerkbeurs! Despite the fact that the location was not used to its fullest (it has gorgeous large industrial windows, but it was all blackened out, snif snif), it was lovely to walk around the craft fair and let yourself be engulfed in the positivity of handicraft. Sigh... So many people who still think it matters and who attends fairs like this to show off their work and to purchase great quality material. It was super cool! At the fair, I met quite a few people who read my blog. It was so cool to see yous! Handy, those Ravelry buttons, aren't they??? I had a chat with Saskia , with Niek from a new store, De zeven katten, and met up with Mariella , the Frisian knitting fanatics and loaoaoaooaoads more people (I'm still blaming post-birth-dementia for not remembering all your names...). I knit scarves for the KiKa bears, bought a bear myself and bought stash. Loads of stash. Well, not as much as some people (I did not need a trolley, h...

Nervous?

Me? Naaaahhh! I didn't cut wee H's fringe way to short because I wasn't paying any attention but fantasizing about what yarn to buy tomorrow. I haven't checked the train time table 50 times to make sure I'm not going to miss it (6.36 AM!!! SHARP!) I've not buttered 10 buns with cheese and ham and packed six packs of apple juice for the journey to Rotterdam. I'm not wondering what on earth I'm going to wear... Naaaaah ;) See you tomorrow!

Handwerkbeurs

Today I took my daughter H to the Craft Fair in Zwolle. What a success! She had great fun from beginning to end, from the moment we stepped on to the bus till coming home! We travelled to Zwolle with Simone , and while we were knitting away, H was counting trains, bridges and houses outside. And ate all the sandwiches and an entire apple (I got one wedge, how nice...). Once there, weathering a short blizzard, we homed in on the 'pimping' table, where H got stuck into decorating a lovely box and then pulled off her skirt, so I could Hotfix that as well :) The results can be seen on Youtube here: After this, we had to run to be in time for our second workshop, making a friendship band. It took a while, but Hannah did like it a lot. She had this thing about the black strand, which was a spider and she didn't want to touch it. The silver strand was her favourite. We worked on it again on the train back home and should be finished with it soon. Results on photo soon! Then i...

Handwerkbeurs

Decision has been made. I'm going to the Handwerkbeurs on Saturday, taking wee H. Time to introduce her to some hardcore crafting... ;) Oh, dinner was lovely, very romantic... We went to El Pacho, a nice (though franchise) Mexican Argentinian restaurant. Had fish and a nice dessert with honey and walnuts. Yum... Will walk an extra lap tomorrow ;) To top it off we're watching Superman, so I'll leave you for now...
