The blanket...

Is progressing nicely... With my head being so busy, it's nice to just knit something mindless... The sofa is almost covered now, but I'm continuing until it is really big enough to wrap myself in... And yes, it is upside down... :D

Ray of sunshine / Zonnestraaltje

Image
Today's Ray of Sunshine is my friend Jolanda , who Twittered yesterday that she was clearing up her stash and asked me if I was interested in some scraps for my sock yarn blanket. And of course I am. Little did I expect that she would hand me this. I was suitably flabbergasted, just about managed to get my hubby to make us a coffee and stammered a thankyou. What you see in the basket is four (FOUR) skeins of Ballee Mystery yarn, 50 grams of a mohair/acrylic mix, which I'm thinking of turning into a lovely tunic for Hannah (thinking of Lapwing from Little Knits, although Starling is also great, two totally different patterns which would both work with the yarn, but any ideas are greatly appreciated), two balls of red/pink sock yarn, a ball of colourful sock yarn and kitchen twiny-look sock yarn and then a smaller ball of lace yarn. And of course, I just had to wind up the Storm op Zolder sock biological sock yarn (with cotton and tencel) straight away, and start a Sokkenpad w...

Drops

I could have written a blog about how I hate the people who live behind us, who seem to not realize that telling people that there's going to be a party does not mean you can carry on until 5 in the morning, and who want YOU to apologize for having rung the police the last time they did the same (long story - and we did ring again, HA). But I'm not. That frustration runs deep, and I'm intent on smothering my feelings of hate with yarn. Lots of yarn. Zoals dit: Some shots o...

The knitting / Het breiwerk

Image
Being absolutely exhausted after a day of antics in the zoo/playground/pool meant little knitting was being done. But looking at my blanket, a lot was done. Even hubby is now extremely impressed by it. I've not counted the number of squares, but it weighs in at around 750 grams now, it is way wide enough to fit the sofa and falls over the seats. A few squares here and there seem to go very quickly. (Sorry, picture by webcam/sorry, foto genomen met de webcam) I did knit a pair of socks for H. from the sock yarn I got from Monique . The yarn is nice ...

The great throw

An update on my 'tour de force'. Aim: to get it finished before my birthday, mid April... I'm almost there... ;)

Generosity

Image
Of the type that makes you get a lump in your throat... Yesterday at SnB I got a huge bag of sock yarn from Marijke (blogless), a fellow translator, who still had loads left over after knitting socks for her kids. Honestly, her kids must have tiny feet, cause the balls of yarn were huge! I can definitely get on amazingly with my blankie now. I'm going to weigh the bag of yarn I have to and see how much it is already *lol* Also generous, Jolanda , thanks for lending me the dpns 5 for my Brea handle, and Angelique , for having a look round for a coffee machine for us ;) And the rest of the girls thanks for a great evening!

The blankie

Image
Did I ever post the link to my blankie ? Well, here it is! And a few pictures to show you how it's getting along. Thanks to a few days' rest, my elbow is a lot better, remarkable, seeing the work I did in the garden! The chutney is 'resting'. But ehhh, don't I need pots and jars for that!? Ehhhh, I'm off to pick Hannah up from my mom's in a bit, and I bet she has some stashed away. And some sugar... I used all of it for the chutney, and now there's none left to make custard for my (bi)weekly rhubarb crumble... Piccietime! Yes, new book! Cooooool: Van het land, by Alma Huisken . A true inspiration for when the weather is not good enough to go digging in the garden. It just about fits on the coffee table And then Sam sweeps it all away... My favourite gifted yarn block!
