Frisian Frillies

A whole lot of smooshy goodness - who doesn't love Malabrigo??? This is Azul Profundo. I used just over 2 skeins. The edging Just in time to wrap myself in it watching the closing ceremony of the Olympics (If I will watch it, that is...): my Jeanie! Unblocked it is about 155 x 45 cm long and wide. I did change the top and bottom edging, because I found the description very illogical and just knit cables like on the sides and then incorporating one stitch from the main body every row. Much less fuss and nice edging! As soon as my poor legs (we went to town this morning on the bus and walked back, then I biked to the allotment, did loads of hard graft and biked back...) are a bit better, and I've picked up all the yarn my kids have thrown around the house, I will put Jeanie out to block it. The reason there is loads of yarn lying about, is that I'm going to knit some fun bags, both for the kids and for me (and lo and behold, Mister Man wants a tote bag, with the Marillion Mar...

It's Spring! Finally! Today, I managed to wash and dry three loads of laundry, while the fourth is drying inside and the fifth is in the machine. I think I've finally caught up with the backlog, pfff. I really enjoyed the sunshine and the breeze, as did the rabbits, who were allowed out their hutches, finally! I did almost have to wear my wellies, because sun does not equal a dry garden. Our lawn is soaking wet, and it will take a few more dry days to make it playable for the kids... We also managed to hang up loads of pictures (finally), hung up the Roman blinds (finally) and cleared out the pantry (again, finally). Before we went shopping this morning, we delivered a load of stuff to the Recycle Center, and some stuff has also gone onto the Internet to be sold. It's so nice to have the Saturday to do stuff like this. Anyway, I digress. I've made a start with Mystic Light , the KAL. Once in a while you find something you don't really know you're looking for... I was drawn to the Knitting Daily free pattern section today, for unknown reasons and there I saw this: The Ultimate gift . Although in jest, big S had been hassling me for a sweater, and bingo! I found it! I knit him a proper Aran in the early days of our 'courtship', some 10 years ago, and he still treasures that sweater. He's looked after it better than his shoes, which says a lot. So I guess he deserves a nice new one. At least I now have something in mind when I go yarn shopping in Zwolle in two weeks time. Eeeeeks! Two weeks! Still don't know whether I'll go on the Friday or Saturday... But first, plan what yarn I'm going to use for it. It calls for Filatura di Crosa/Stacey Charles Cashmere, which I've never heard of. I'll have a look around for a nice substitute cashmere-y yarn with the same guage (141m/50g). Fellow knitters, any idea? And I also like the Norweg...
