Foppe

Sometimes when you make something, you can't wait to give it. This was one of those situations. A while ago , I won some yarn spun by Annita, with a pattern for her Suusje mouse. I had knit this pattern before, so my hands were just itching to get started! The cuddly toy was knit up quickly and last week I gave it some eyes and put in the stuffing, to bring it to life. Suus, or Foppe, was then wrapped in Sinterklaas paper.... And put into the bag with presents... Big Sister Famke got to unwrap it. See it on the floor next to Batman? It's the yellow oblong one... Now we all just have to wait (a looooong time) before her wee brother decides to make his entrance into the world... And guess who we ran into yesterday? We actually got to say thankyou for delivering our presents in person!

Some cuddly toys for cuddly babies...

Image
Today, two little cuddlies went to their new home. Two little cuddlies I had been knitting for the last week or so. One of them had been in my queue for a while, and the other one I saw when it came out in Knitty and instantly fell in love with. They had to be sort of very special, as my group of friends has about finished with the whole baby thing - even though you wouldn't think so, with 8 babies being born over the last year! It was great to see this little bugger being unwrapped and marvelled at - especially when the mommy found out the little man can be taken out of her shell... Pattern: Sheldon Yarn: Durable breikatoen nr. 8, gifted Needles: 2.75 mm Alterations: instead of i-cord, I crocheted around the shell, as it was a bit quicker. Meet Pinky Sheldon, now proudly owned by Mayte, a wee girl with two big brothers who will need all the turtle power she can get to help her mommy keep the pink spirit alive! The other little darling was a bit bigger, well, almost twice the ...

Another Sophie...

Another baby girl, another Sophie! I wanted to try a combination of knitting and some sowed-on patches, and when I got this fabric a few weeks ago in a RAK, I just knew that I had to combine it with a nice 'old' soft pink yarn. In my stash I had enough balls of Patons Fairytale 4-ply to knit a sweater (which I actually started, but frogged), and when I touched it, I thought it would be perfect for a cuddly bunny.  For the stitching (the eyes and nose, the little heart -  bless - and to sew on the fabric) I used grey alpaca from my stash and the gifted fabric, light pink with little flowers. It's just beautiful! On little Sophie's bum I stitched a patch with the letter 'E', to make sure everyone knows it belongs to the baby girl who will get it tomorrow! A big kiss to you all from Sophie E! (Who can't wait to cuddle little Elbrich tomorrow morning!

Whoosh

Image
I haven't disappeared off the face of the earth, but blogwise I haven't really had a lot of time to put anything online. March has been busy. Busy with what? I have no idea. Really. It just went whoosh. One morning I just woke up and it was the end of the month again. How? Pffff, you tell me. It's not as if I have been knitting up a fury and produced loads of things. It's not as if I have already finished another book and been busy with that (eh... bit of a sore point that, but I'll get to that in a minute). March was just taken up by loads of little things. The odd run, the odd trip to mum and the hospital, the odd trip to the allotment and loads of work. Yes, there has been loads of work, but of the type that gets in the way of proper work. A few days spent at the police station interpreting (which is great, but still, time guzzlers), lots of little jobs for companies far away and closer-by, doing VAT returns, getting started on my annual accounts, that type of st...
