My socks are done and off to Canada... They fit me perfectly, and hopefully they will fit Michelle too, as she is exactly my size. Enjoy them girl! I think they should be with you early next week!

Okay, I'm mixing my metaphores and it's not proper English, but it rhymes! And it's the truth... 'Cause when I got a phone call last night from big S asking me to pick him and Hannah up from further up the road, this was the reason why: I had noticed a spoke was missing, and like the front wheel, the back wheel was a bib wobbly... And on Sunday, when we were planning to out for a cycle, we turned back home at the end of the street because I thought it was very strange to drive... Unfortunately, I did not get round to bringing it to the bike shop yesterday (see previous post)... and then when I asked big S whether he was sure he wanted to go biking with wee H... well, let's say I did warn them... Luckily none of them were injured, but it did crack dramatically... And now, I'm without a bike until Friday, and then I'll be two proper stainless steel wheels richer and quite a few Euros poorer... Another life lesson learnt... Luckily, the rhubarb crumble is nearl...
Our third day in Shetland, and a very special one. Not only my wee boy Samuel celebrated his birthday - he turned 6 - but Monique as well. So while I phoned home early in the morning to sing Happy Birthday to my son, Monique had her own choir on the phone ;) After a quick breakfast, we set out for Lerwick, and on the way there we decided to go for a walk along the beach first, before venturing into town. Almost a view to die for... The view from the cemetary Although the weather was lovely when we arrived, quickly the wind picked up and it started raining. We ran back to the car and drove back into town. Time for some birthday cake! The Museum was an obvious c...
In times of crisis, I bake. As soon as you see me whipping up one load of cookie dough, cake mix and chicken roast after another, you know there's something up. And this week, there was plenty of baking: - around 60 cup cakes: plain vanilla, chocolate and carrot cake, with vanilla, chocolate and cream cheese icing - a dozen raisin buns - a dozen brown buns - 2 white loafs - 3 brown loafs - cauliflower-potato bake - pizza and I bet I forgot some stuff too. There was plenty of reason for all this baking too. Last Wednesday, my mom had her operation. She was admitted on Tuesday, and after seeing the gynaecologist, anesthesist, dietician, thrombosis nurse, ward nurse, stoma nurse and countless interns and other nurses, she was wheeled off early Wednesday morning. Too many hours (and a batch of brown buns later), we got the phone call: operation a success, but patient quite ill. Instead of returning back to the ward, she was transferred to ICU. My mom had lost quite a lot of ...
