...when there are so many hobbies to spend your time on?

Sigh...

Today I managed to actually translate about 5 pages (ooo, not good...), but hobby-wise was cool. I translated 2 pages of crochet instructions for a Barbie dress (my mother's English is not very good, so she requested a translation), which meant I did have to crochet parts of it to test whether I got the instructions right, and scrapped 3 birthday cards. My baby blanket for baby S is also progressing nicely and I told myself I'm not allowed to continue with the stole until I've taken some photographs of the current state. haha, I'm SO strict on myself...

Plans for the weekend are to make some new diapers for baby S as well, because he's getting to big for some! The width is not the problem, but the height is. You can see his bum crack and unless he's thinking of a career in construction, I think we'd better rectify that :-)
Not that his bum is ugly or anything...

And maybe in between it all, I'll do some work too ;-)

Dus dat heb jij ook, voortdurend de 'strijd' tussen werk en hobby.
Ik hou van mijn werk (30 uur per week) maar ook van mijn hobby's en ik zou best minder willen werken om meer tijd te hebben voor de hobby's. Maar ja..........das weer minder geld in het laatje voor materiaal voor de hobby's.
Het zal altijd wel een soort spanningsveld blijven.

Tja, en dan nog het dilemma dat een dag maar 24 uur heeft, waarvan je een gedeelte behoort te slapen....

A while ago, on the Dutch RAK group at Ravelry, one of our members asked for some assistance with some sock knitting. She said she'd love to have homeknit socks, but had never managed to knit a pair herself. So, Aal and I came to the rescue. Within 3 days of sending off the yarn, she had her first pair of socks back from Aal. That woman is so amazingly fast!!! My socks took a bit longer, mainly because I had to rip back a few times.  Knitting late at night, having to calculate while knitting, bad lightling... etc... But, eventually, they did get done!!! I suggested knitting her some Skew socks, as with the self-striping yarn she sent me, I thought the effect would be super cool. And it turned out great, even though I was a bit miffed to see that the colour depth was not the same throughout the ball of yarn. Luckily this only becomes really apparent in the leg part, which most people have under their trousers ;) A few pictures of the socks still here... See the difference?

Back from our holiday to Norn Iron

We're still buzzing, people. Totally loved it! It was mint! After what had felt like way too long we finally were able to hug our friends Damien, Katrina, Mark, Orla, and Alistair, have granny Mary-Ann spoil the kids rotten, and just enjoy being 'back'. Because that is how it felt. We stayed in a beautiful apartment in Portrush, with enough bedrooms to accommodate us and granny Mary-Ann, a massive kitchen where I actually cooked as well, next to a train stop, which made travelling a breeze, and five minutes from the West Strand. Heaven! We went to the Giant's Causeway, explored Portrush, enjoyed the beach and many of the cafés and playgrounds around town, and travelled to Coleraine and Portstewart. The kids absolutely loved it, and we were all in tears when the plane took off and we flew home again... But, we're making plans to relocate! Shetland - day 3 - Monday October 8

Our third day in Shetland, and a very special one. Not only my wee boy Samuel celebrated his birthday - he turned 6 - but Monique as well. So while I phoned home early in the morning to sing Happy Birthday to my son, Monique had her own choir on the phone ;) After a quick breakfast, we set out for Lerwick, and on the way there we decided to go for a walk along the beach first, before venturing into town. Wearing my Shetland hat, which became a very welcome, warm and trusty companion The cemetery at the Knab We drove around Breiwick Bay and parked our car at the Knab, a natural promontory facing Bressay, where there are several relics from WWII and also a huge cemetery, with some amazing and beautiful headstones.
