New laptop

I have one! Yes, a new laptop. With a keyboard on which all the keys actually work! I still have to get used to it, because it types differently and jumps to different locations when I don't want it to, but I remember I had the same with my other laptop, but once I got the hang of using it, it was okay. I did, however, had to call a mechanic out to connect it to our network. For some reason, on my old laptop the network key was not being displayed properly, so I had no way of transfering it over. Anyway, it was sorted in 10 minutes, so now I'm up and running.
No piccies of finished Mystic Lights here, although I am neeeeeeeaaarly done. I'm trying to get it finished tonight, block it tomorrow and take it to Monique on Thursday, so we can put them side by side.
One thing of getting a new laptop is that you have to transfer a lot of things. Email settings, internet settings, favorites, and files. Lots of files. I also copied all my photos, and got a bit sentimental when I saw them all pass by. I couldn't not post any here, although my kids will probably kill me later... haha...

Sam, only a few days old, in one of my first self-made diapers. He is still wearing them (though a bigger size, lol), and on his way to being potty trained. He's doing really well! Although, I'm a bit lazy sometimes and let him wear diapers, even though my heart tells me he shouldn't... and doesn't need to!


Sam's baptism. The one person who wasn't there, was my dad*. But I'm sure he was there in spirit. Sam was baptized on my mom's birthday, which made it an extra special day!

Battle with the teeth... One way to get him to smile again after crying so hard, is taking pictures with the webcam. Great fun!


And my little 'boefjes' together last month. Sam with his new hooligan haircut. Believe me, it suits him much better than the angelic baby hair. Time to get some proper portraits soon...

Kids grow up waaaaaaaaaaaaay to fast...

A while ago, on the Dutch RAK group at Ravelry, one of our members asked for some assistance with some sock knitting. She said she'd love to have homeknit socks, but had never managed to knit a pair herself. So, Aal and I came to the rescue. Within 3 days of sending off the yarn, she had her first pair of socks back from Aal. That woman is so amazingly fast!!! My socks took a bit longer, mainly because I had to rip back a few times.  Knitting late at night, having to calculate while knitting, bad lightling... etc... But, eventually, they did get done!!! I suggested knitting her some Skew socks, as with the self-striping yarn she sent me, I thought the effect would be super cool. And it turned out great, even though I was a bit miffed to see that the colour depth was not the same throughout the ball of yarn. Luckily this only becomes really apparent in the leg part, which most people have under their trousers ;) A few pictures of the socks still here... See the difference?

Back from our holiday to Norn Iron

We're still buzzing, people. Totally loved it! It was mint! After what had felt like way too long we finally were able to hug our friends Damien, Katrina, Mark, Orla, and Alistair, have granny Mary-Ann spoil the kids rotten, and just enjoy being 'back'. Because that is how it felt. We stayed in a beautiful apartment in Portrush, with enough bedrooms to accommodate us and granny Mary-Ann, a massive kitchen where I actually cooked as well, next to a train stop, which made travelling a breeze, and five minutes from the West Strand. Heaven! We went to the Giant's Causeway, explored Portrush, enjoyed the beach and many of the cafés and playgrounds around town, and travelled to Coleraine and Portstewart. The kids absolutely loved it, and we were all in tears when the plane took off and we flew home again... But, we're making plans to relocate! Shetland - day 3 - Monday October 8

Our third day in Shetland, and a very special one. Not only my wee boy Samuel celebrated his birthday - he turned 6 - but Monique as well. So while I phoned home early in the morning to sing Happy Birthday to my son, Monique had her own choir on the phone ;) After a quick breakfast, we set out for Lerwick, and on the way there we decided to go for a walk along the beach first, before venturing into town. Wearing my Shetland hat, which became a very welcome, warm and trusty companion The cemetery at the Knab We drove around Breiwick Bay and parked our car at the Knab, a natural promontory facing Bressay, where there are several relics from WWII and also a huge cemetery, with some amazing and beautiful headstones.
