End of the rainbow...

Today, on the way back from a (Board) Games Exhibition, we saw a full rainbow. Big S was over the moon, as he had never seen one like this before. When we got closer and closer, it got bigger and more beautiful, and we saw it was actually a rainbow which reversed back from indigo to red. And, we drove past the end of the rainbow. The actual end of the rainbow was in the field straight next to the motorway. Unfortunately, no pot of gold, no dancing leprechauns... But a beautiful sight nonetheless!

And then the quilt yesterday! It was gorgeous! 27 x 11 m of soft goodness, hanging of our own Tower of Pisa... I can't wait to see the rest of the exhibition.



And my two babies on the way to Sinterklaas. They are true believers, even though Sam's only a new recruit and Hannah is starting to doubt... I wonder what it will be like next year. I just love this time of year, kills my waistline, but hey, that's what we have January for... ;)

Met mutsjes had ik ze nog niet gezien; de schatjes.
Waar was dat Game ding? Wij waren zondag in Meppel en daar was ook een práchtige (dubbele) regenboog. helemaal rond en knap fel. Wonderbaarlijk blijft het. In het openveld is het nóg mooier.
Jammer dat je geen goud vond, of een iers minimannetje (afgezien van wee S.) hahahaha.
Pas maar op, want in januari ligt er alweer chocola in de winkel voor Valentijnsdag... het blijft afzien.

Prachtig hè zo'n regenboog. Ik kan er ook altijd zo van genieten.

De quilt ziet er imposant uit zeg.

Voor kinderen is het een spannende tijd met Sinterklaas. Mijn kinderen (9 1/2 en 11 1/2) weten hoe het zit maar vinden het zelfs nog spannend.

A while ago, on the Dutch RAK group at Ravelry, one of our members asked for some assistance with some sock knitting. She said she'd love to have homeknit socks, but had never managed to knit a pair herself. So, Aal and I came to the rescue. Within 3 days of sending off the yarn, she had her first pair of socks back from Aal. That woman is so amazingly fast!!! My socks took a bit longer, mainly because I had to rip back a few times.  Knitting late at night, having to calculate while knitting, bad lightling... etc... But, eventually, they did get done!!! I suggested knitting her some Skew socks, as with the self-striping yarn she sent me, I thought the effect would be super cool. And it turned out great, even though I was a bit miffed to see that the colour depth was not the same throughout the ball of yarn. Luckily this only becomes really apparent in the leg part, which most people have under their trousers ;) A few pictures of the socks still here... See the difference?

Back from our holiday to Norn Iron

We're still buzzing, people. Totally loved it! It was mint! After what had felt like way too long we finally were able to hug our friends Damien, Katrina, Mark, Orla, and Alistair, have granny Mary-Ann spoil the kids rotten, and just enjoy being 'back'. Because that is how it felt. We stayed in a beautiful apartment in Portrush, with enough bedrooms to accommodate us and granny Mary-Ann, a massive kitchen where I actually cooked as well, next to a train stop, which made travelling a breeze, and five minutes from the West Strand. Heaven! We went to the Giant's Causeway, explored Portrush, enjoyed the beach and many of the cafés and playgrounds around town, and travelled to Coleraine and Portstewart. The kids absolutely loved it, and we were all in tears when the plane took off and we flew home again... But, we're making plans to relocate! Shetland - day 3 - Monday October 8

Our third day in Shetland, and a very special one. Not only my wee boy Samuel celebrated his birthday - he turned 6 - but Monique as well. So while I phoned home early in the morning to sing Happy Birthday to my son, Monique had her own choir on the phone ;) After a quick breakfast, we set out for Lerwick, and on the way there we decided to go for a walk along the beach first, before venturing into town. Wearing my Shetland hat, which became a very welcome, warm and trusty companion The cemetery at the Knab We drove around Breiwick Bay and parked our car at the Knab, a natural promontory facing Bressay, where there are several relics from WWII and also a huge cemetery, with some amazing and beautiful headstones.
