Colour 'n things...

A white wall... well, nearly, just a few patches to touch up (note to self: by daylight!) here and there. And mystical powers have created a perfect circle in the middle of the wall where the paint is much whiter than around it... Strange...
And some projects! My Hourglass socks are done. Love the colour and feel of the socks but.... they are very saggy and a bit big. Socks for my boots! I might frog back a bit and shorten the foot, but when I pull them up they seem fine, probably because of the combination of a lacey pattern and my voluptuous calves... ;)

And some WIPs, firstly my Chullo, in Alpaca, still a bit doubtful whether I made the right choice there, but I'll try it on after the next 2 patterns and then decide...
And socks in a yarn I got gifted for my sock blanket. As it was a full ball, I thought I try some socks first. Well. What can I say. These are being frogged back and I'll try to make them with Lieke's Pieken & Dalen pattern.... This is not really my taste...

Yup, I love my new white wall! And I will even more once I get the coving and plinths sorted ;)

Misschien heeft er iets ronds aan de muur gehangen en is er flink gerookt in huis, zodat er rondom de cirkel nicotine door je verf komt? Ik hoop het niet, dan heb je straks een geelbruine muur met een witte cirkel ;-)

Het gestreepte garen is wel zeer geschikt voor een deken, ja!

Pieken en dalen wordt denk ik heel leuk in dit garen, maar je hebt gelijk, voor gewoon tricotsteek is het een beetje saai.

Prachtig werk heb je geleverd. Niet alleen met die witte muur, maar ook die prachtige sokken en al het andere waar je mee bezig bent.

Jose, daar zeg je wat. Er is heeeel veel gerookt in dit huis voor ons (ik zal je de details maar besparen wat er gebeurde toen we het behang eraf gingen stomen, bah, bah, bah, bah...) en het is wel tegenover de keuken, dus kan er een klok hebben gehangen. Maar dan zouden er ook rechthoeken moeten zijn voor foto's en zo, maar die zie ik dus niet... Morgen nog even gluren ;)
En ach, er komt toch wel wat tegen de muur daar, dus echt opvallen gaat het straks zeker niet!

A while ago, on the Dutch RAK group at Ravelry, one of our members asked for some assistance with some sock knitting. She said she'd love to have homeknit socks, but had never managed to knit a pair herself. So, Aal and I came to the rescue. Within 3 days of sending off the yarn, she had her first pair of socks back from Aal. That woman is so amazingly fast!!! My socks took a bit longer, mainly because I had to rip back a few times.  Knitting late at night, having to calculate while knitting, bad lightling... etc... But, eventually, they did get done!!! I suggested knitting her some Skew socks, as with the self-striping yarn she sent me, I thought the effect would be super cool. And it turned out great, even though I was a bit miffed to see that the colour depth was not the same throughout the ball of yarn. Luckily this only becomes really apparent in the leg part, which most people have under their trousers ;) A few pictures of the socks still here... See the difference?

Back from our holiday to Norn Iron

We're still buzzing, people. Totally loved it! It was mint! After what had felt like way too long we finally were able to hug our friends Damien, Katrina, Mark, Orla, and Alistair, have granny Mary-Ann spoil the kids rotten, and just enjoy being 'back'. Because that is how it felt. We stayed in a beautiful apartment in Portrush, with enough bedrooms to accommodate us and granny Mary-Ann, a massive kitchen where I actually cooked as well, next to a train stop, which made travelling a breeze, and five minutes from the West Strand. Heaven! We went to the Giant's Causeway, explored Portrush, enjoyed the beach and many of the cafés and playgrounds around town, and travelled to Coleraine and Portstewart. The kids absolutely loved it, and we were all in tears when the plane took off and we flew home again... But, we're making plans to relocate! Shetland - day 3 - Monday October 8

Our third day in Shetland, and a very special one. Not only my wee boy Samuel celebrated his birthday - he turned 6 - but Monique as well. So while I phoned home early in the morning to sing Happy Birthday to my son, Monique had her own choir on the phone ;) After a quick breakfast, we set out for Lerwick, and on the way there we decided to go for a walk along the beach first, before venturing into town. Wearing my Shetland hat, which became a very welcome, warm and trusty companion The cemetery at the Knab We drove around Breiwick Bay and parked our car at the Knab, a natural promontory facing Bressay, where there are several relics from WWII and also a huge cemetery, with some amazing and beautiful headstones.
