Frisian Frillies

Today's Ray of Sunshine is my friend Jolanda , who Twittered yesterday that she was clearing up her stash and asked me if I was interested in some scraps for my sock yarn blanket. And of course I am. Little did I expect that she would hand me this. I was suitably flabbergasted, just about managed to get my hubby to make us a coffee and stammered a thankyou. What you see in the basket is four (FOUR) skeins of Ballee Mystery yarn, 50 grams of a mohair/acrylic mix, which I'm thinking of turning into a lovely tunic for Hannah (thinking of Lapwing from Little Knits, although Starling is also great, two totally different patterns which would both work with the yarn, but any ideas are greatly appreciated), two balls of red/pink sock yarn, a ball of colourful sock yarn and kitchen twiny-look sock yarn and then a smaller ball of lace yarn. And of course, I just had to wind up the Storm op Zolder sock biological sock yarn (with cotton and tencel) straight away, and start a Sokkenpad w...

We were in the paper today! Herma , Monique , Froukje and me had our socks on prominent display in the Leeuwarder Courant. Super proud!!! I'll make a copy, but here's a wee snapshot! I'm having a little Dora moment this afternoon... the manuscript has been sent off! I did it! Weight of my shoulders! Bla bla... I am eagerly awaiting the responses, but we did celebrate my 'freedom' with a trip to the local fish & chip shop for a nice lunch. I'm taking the rest of the day off, to see how far I can get with Elijah... who's a bit half-done at the moment... Ik heb even een klein Dora-momentje vanmiddag... het manuscript is verstuurd! I was already warned about this problem, but I fell in the trap nevertheless... Decreasing has never been an issue whenever I do it in alternate rows, but now I'm doing it in consecutive rows, I can see why it just doesn't work when you use a 'normal' SSK. I'm taking a little break today from my book. I got the go-ahead yesterday to combine two books into one, which gives me another week to finish it. And a bit more space to breath :D That is why I have been surfing the net for some cool ideas for Xmas. Yes, I know, it's a long way off, but I decided that if I want my tree and house decorated in time, I had to start researching and collecting materials now. I've decided on crochet this time. Not only because it is quick, but because I saw this and fell in love. Head over heels! Ik neem even een kleine pauze van m'n boek. Gisteren hoorde ik dat mijn plan om twee boeken te combineren tot één is goedgekeurd, wat me een extra week geeft om het af te maken. En iets meer ademruimte :D Daarom heb ik wat zitten surfen op internet, op zoek naar ideeën voor de Kerst. Ik weet het, het duurt nog even, maar ik dacht dat als ik mijn boom en huis met zelfgemaakte dingen wil versieren, ik nu toch wel moet beginnen met rondkijken en mater...

I'm writing a book. It's scary as hell. And as a result, I'm cleaning a lot. On the Internet I found just the term for it: procrasticleaner. And that is what I am. I clean to put off things. I clean whenever I'm suffering from 'writer's block'. I clean whenever I 'have to' do someting. And that is why my kitchen is getting a thorough scrub every day, the floor is being washed so often that the tiles have lost their protective coating, all my vases have been scrubbed and polished, photo frames have been dusted off, the stairs are spotless, and I even attached the living room carpet with a scouring pad... and I wrote my first 5,000 words. And one warm neck. Two sets of mittens and a scarf knit, within a few days, actually. Husband is still awaiting his mittens, but he has to wait until I get my mice done. Yes, two of them!
