Plarn!

I got the idea from her and immediately knew what I was going to do with it... A bag for Hannahs teacher, as today is her last day at school before the summer holidays!
It was a bit last minute, so I spent both football games - which both yielded exactly the right results (and way longer until late into the night) cutting up bags and crocheting away with my plarn.
It is bit unwieldy, but such fun to do! It was quite an undertaking to get the colours I wanted, but thanks to the AH, Makro, Blokker and Aldi bags stashed in our attic and one visit to the shops, I had enough bags in enough colours to turn them into a nice new bag.

It is big enough to put the jar with home-made strawberry-rhubarb jam in and Hannah's teacher will be 'making the blitz' on Sunday, when Holland are playing the World Cup final against Spain!

And today as well: HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVE! Nothing nicer than waking up to a gorgeous cake. Well, he could have done without me shoving a camera in his face ;)

Ben zeer benieuwd naar de juf haar reactie (net zo benieuwd naar het antwoord op de vraag wiens hand daar in de linkerhoek prijkt en welk cadeau erin zit).

Sorry, maar ik ben nu eenmaal heel nieuwsgierig, uh, belangstellend bedoel ik.

Super je heb de tas op tijd af, je was zo druk bezig, maar het ging niet gemakkelijk. Het is toch anders dan met lekker zachte wolletjes haken. Hopelijk valt je vinger er niet af;-))

Gefeliciteerd met manlief, taart ziet er heerlijk uit.

Oh, en die hand is van Sam, met een van zijn auto's. ;) Cadeau was een draadloze koptelefoon, daar geniet hij nu erg van! Schot in de roos!

Our third day in Shetland, and a very special one. Not only my wee boy Samuel celebrated his birthday - he turned 6 - but Monique as well. This is how they've slept the last two nights. Two little angels (don't ask how they behaved during the daytime, because the sleep only comes after a lot of laughter and playing and music, ergo short nights, ergo cranky kids)! I'll have to miss this sight a few evenings next week, as I found out today that I have to go into hospital on Monday for a planned cyste removal. It's a bit eh... sudden! I've been on the waiting list for weeks, and it turned out they had the wrong phone number. The fact that it was right on the official forms and that I'm listed in the phonebook apparently didn't matter. Anyway, just enough time to ensure that the kiddies and daddy are taken care of and that other appointments are moved (which was not easy, as it's a day off today for a lot of people, and I also had a work appoint halfway across the country today - thank God for e-mail and Internet!). Dusting off the sewing machine

After creating my own little crafting space in the attic, it was inevitable that I was going to start using it. Last Summer, we bought some nice fabric at IKEA to use for new cushion covers, and, as I was too busy with work and knitting, the fabric disappeared in a box... Until last week! It then took a few more nights of stewing over ideas and designs, and then I realized what I was supposed to make with it: a new cover for our Pello chair . We rescued the chair from a charity shop a few months ago, and the cover was, well, faded and included some interesting 'design elements'. I had washed it a few times, but it just never regained its former glory. But would the fabric we had not be a bit too loud? So, first, I decided to sew up a smaller project, to see how the fabric worked. I made a small crochet needle roll from a similar fabric, with a larger print, and some pink.
