Room for only one redhead in the family...

And here she is! Say hello to Rosaline! Our new redhead beauty:


Isn't she gorgeous? We saw her when we went to get rabbit food from the pet shop, as we had forgotten it on our regular supermarket shop. And me and pet shops, that's a dangerous combination... We had a guineapig like this before, little Harry, and when we saw Rosaline, it was love at first sight. She's only 8 weeks old, and a lot smaller than she looks. Such a head (uhm, body) of hair, unbelievable! And so cute!

Also, a little update on what I'm up to knitting-wise at the moment. I finished my Salida socks. They are very comfy, and I almost wish I had knit them toe-up (which would have been possible with the pattern), as I quiet like long-ish socks. Next time! This is definitely a pattern to repeat:



With the yarn I bought at the Maxx (ED: a discount store which sells a lot of XXXXX, but occasionally has some real finds, like now, with quality yarn and fabric), I started a Drops pattern. It's quite laborious, with the knit and purl stitches, but I like the combo and I'm sure it will look very flattering on me, as soon as I lose another few pounds (down 5 already - big grin...).

Wat is ze lief en mooi. Wij hadden vroeger een gladde albino met diezelfde rode oogjes. Veel plezier. De kindjes vinden haar vast prachtig.

De sokken zijn prachtig (maar ik had ook niet anders verwacht).

Oh bij ons thuis vroeger eindigden ze na een paar maanden steevast op de kinderboerderij... saaie beesten. Maar ze zijn wel zooooo schattig.

Sokken zijn echt super! Ik ben nog wel bij de Maxx geweest maar er was alleen nog wat mwoah mwoah over. Je had weer mazzel!

Our third day in Shetland, and a very special one. Not only my wee boy Samuel celebrated his birthday - he turned 6 - but Monique as well. So while I phoned home early in the morning to sing Happy Birthday to my son, Monique had her own choir on the phone ;) After a quick breakfast, we set out for Lerwick, and on the way there we decided to go for a walk along the beach first, before venturing into town. This is how they've slept the last two nights. Two little angels (don't ask how they behaved during the daytime, because the sleep only comes after a lot of laughter and playing and music, ergo short nights, ergo cranky kids)! I'll have to miss this sight a few evenings next week, as I found out today that I have to go into hospital on Monday for a planned cyste removal. It's a bit eh... sudden! I've been on the waiting list for weeks, and it turned out they had the wrong phone number. The fact that it was right on the official forms and that I'm listed in the phonebook apparently didn't matter. Anyway, just enough time to ensure that the kiddies and daddy are taken care of and that other appointments are moved (which was not easy, as it's a day off today for a lot of people, and I also had a work appoint halfway across the country today - thank God for e-mail and Internet!). Shetland - Days 1 and 2

And then, before you know it, the alarm goes off... It was a very short night, as this mommy had decided that - the evening before a 2.30AM start - she had to try and fix the washing machine that just broke down, fix a puncture is Batmans back tyre, create 24 treats to hand out on his birthday on Monday and pack a bag. All at the same time. Not a clever idea. Especially when at 3AM, when the last items went into the bag and it needed zipped up, the zipper breaks. Yes, it was a great start to the day, and if it had only been me going, I would have jut sat down on the floor and cried. But, instead, I woke up long-suffering husband, made him climb into the cubby hole in the attic - still half asleep - and dig out another bag.
