Haruni

On the last day of August, I finally finished Haruni. The Haruni I thought I'd finished on the way back home in the train. And who thought that that frumpy bit of yarn would turn out so nice after blocking! After frogging back to chart A, I decided to add an extra repeat, because I wanted it a bit bigger than it was when I first finished it. The second time round the change-over to chart B was much easier.
I really enjoyed knitting this shawl and especially because I had the pattern on the eReader we had on loan from the library. I just finished it in time, as the eReader has to be returned on Friday ;) Guess what will be on my Xmas list...


I'm not a 'hard blocker', and noticed that trying to block such a large shawl on a lits-jumeaux is a nightmare... There's that massive gap in the middle, where you can't stick pins. Problem! Have to think about how to do that next time...
So, lightly blocked, not with all the crochet loops pinned down (that would have taken forever...), here's my pink Haruni!
It's light, it's lovely, me like!

Yarn: Manos del Uruguay Lace, purchased at Wereldwol, just over a skein. With the number of repeats in the pattern, it would have been less than a skein.
Needles: 3.5 mm Knitpro circs
Pattern: Haruni, by Emily Ross
Changes: added an extra repeat on chart A. Used the crochet bind-off

I love the color too!

You can actually borrow an e-reader from the library? That is wicked! Wow! I don't think we are allowed to do that here.

Love. Love the colour, the pattern, the leaves, love how it looks on you. I don't even know what an ereader is. Yes, the word culchie was applied to me often when in Belfast.

Beautiful! I finished a Haruni this year and wish I had added more repeats as mine turned out a little small.

Our third day in Shetland, and a very special one. Not only my wee boy Samuel celebrated his birthday - he turned 6 - but Monique as well. This is how they've slept the last two nights. Two little angels (don't ask how they behaved during the daytime, because the sleep only comes after a lot of laughter and playing and music, ergo short nights, ergo cranky kids)! I'll have to miss this sight a few evenings next week, as I found out today that I have to go into hospital on Monday for a planned cyste removal. It's a bit eh... sudden! I've been on the waiting list for weeks, and it turned out they had the wrong phone number. The fact that it was right on the official forms and that I'm listed in the phonebook apparently didn't matter. Anyway, just enough time to ensure that the kiddies and daddy are taken care of and that other appointments are moved (which was not easy, as it's a day off today for a lot of people, and I also had a work appoint halfway across the country today - thank God for e-mail and Internet!). Dusting off the sewing machine

After creating my own little crafting space in the attic, it was inevitable that I was going to start using it. Last Summer, we bought some nice fabric at IKEA to use for new cushion covers, and, as I was too busy with work and knitting, the fabric disappeared in a box... Until last week! It then took a few more nights of stewing over ideas and designs, and then I realized what I was supposed to make with it: a new cover for our Pello chair . We rescued the chair from a charity shop a few months ago, and the cover was, well, faded and included some interesting 'design elements'. I had washed it a few times, but it just never regained its former glory. But would the fabric we had not be a bit too loud? So, first, I decided to sew up a smaller project, to see how the fabric worked. I made a small crochet needle roll from a similar fabric, with a larger print, and some pink.
