Temptation Central...

As dear husband had a business appointment in Joure this morning, and I am his personal chauffeur, I was looking for a nice place to go in the meantime. And when you say Joure, you say Ajoure! A lovely store filled to the brim with yarn! I had never been before, but had heard raving reviews from fellow knitters from the area. And it still managed to exceed my expectations! As I was on a 'budget' - with the Breidagen in a few weeks' time - I only got enough yarn for my new mittens and a skein of sock yarn.
With the Cashmerino, I'll be knitting these lovelies... And now I'm home I realize I should have probably bought a second ball of white. Ach well... I'll just start them and if I run out, I can get a ball at the Breidagen :D
The Tausendschon is the same type of yarn I knit my Hat Heel socks with. I just loved that yarn, so I got a different colour combo to knit up some more lovely warm socks. Despite it nearly being Spring, it is still cold enough to need socks!
Oh, and what do you guys think of the new blog design? I love it!
Now, a quick bit of work while the kids are having fun with stamps, paper and pencils, and then it's back to my sewing machine, as I have to get started on my new Spring coat!

How about new career as a specialized taxi driver - just for locations near yarn shops?
I knit a pair of fingerless mitts from one ball of Baby Cashmerino, with quite a bit left over. So maybe there is enough white for your adorable mittens.

Mooie nieuwe look op je blog! Een nieuwe paradijsje gevonden voor garens. Jij breit/naait toch wel snel genoeg om het nog allemaal af te krijgen voor het echt lente wordt.

A while ago, on the Dutch RAK group at Ravelry, one of our members asked for some assistance with some sock knitting. She said she'd love to have homeknit socks, but had never managed to knit a pair herself. So, Aal and I came to the rescue. Within 3 days of sending off the yarn, she had her first pair of socks back from Aal. That woman is so amazingly fast!!! My socks took a bit longer, mainly because I had to rip back a few times.  Knitting late at night, having to calculate while knitting, bad lightling... etc... But, eventually, they did get done!!! I suggested knitting her some Skew socks, as with the self-striping yarn she sent me, I thought the effect would be super cool. And it turned out great, even though I was a bit miffed to see that the colour depth was not the same throughout the ball of yarn. Luckily this only becomes really apparent in the leg part, which most people have under their trousers ;) A few pictures of the socks still here... See the difference?

Back from our holiday to Norn Iron

We're still buzzing, people. Totally loved it! It was mint! After what had felt like way too long we finally were able to hug our friends Damien, Katrina, Mark, Orla, and Alistair, have granny Mary-Ann spoil the kids rotten, and just enjoy being 'back'. Because that is how it felt. We stayed in a beautiful apartment in Portrush, with enough bedrooms to accommodate us and granny Mary-Ann, a massive kitchen where I actually cooked as well, next to a train stop, which made travelling a breeze, and five minutes from the West Strand. Heaven! We went to the Giant's Causeway, explored Portrush, enjoyed the beach and many of the cafés and playgrounds around town, and travelled to Coleraine and Portstewart. The kids absolutely loved it, and we were all in tears when the plane took off and we flew home again... But, we're making plans to relocate! Shetland - day 3 - Monday October 8

Our third day in Shetland, and a very special one. Not only my wee boy Samuel celebrated his birthday - he turned 6 - but Monique as well. So while I phoned home early in the morning to sing Happy Birthday to my son, Monique had her own choir on the phone ;) After a quick breakfast, we set out for Lerwick, and on the way there we decided to go for a walk along the beach first, before venturing into town. Wearing my Shetland hat, which became a very welcome, warm and trusty companion The cemetery at the Knab We drove around Breiwick Bay and parked our car at the Knab, a natural promontory facing Bressay, where there are several relics from WWII and also a huge cemetery, with some amazing and beautiful headstones.
