In progress... and trying to contain my inspiration

With work being nice and 'normal' for a change, my head is overrunning with ideas. Sint Maarten, Sinterklaas and Christmas coming up don't help either... There's all these cool crafting ideas and projects fighting for attention from my fingers... The list of WIPs (work in progress) is getting longer, and the yarn I'm spinning up when my head is just too busy to knit, is also screaming out to be worked into something nice...
So, I've added a few items to my In Progress list again... and my wish list and Favorites on Ravelry...
First up... the green/grey flap gloves for Mermaid...
Mermaid has very narrow hands, but these to me look very pointy and weird...
The thumb and flap are done, half fingers still missing. Glove 1, not sure if this project will see completion...
Yarn: grey Drops alpaca and the Lana Grossa Meilenweit Wave. 
Because of these doubts, I started a new pair, from the spun up Diva Dose Spin Club from September (The Doctor).
Totally different pattern, with fingers this time. Knits up like a dream. These will be finished before the weekend is out, I guess!
Contains merino, bfl, silk and a bit of firestar. Soft soft!!!
And more knitting for Mermaid, who was complaining that I 'never knit anything for her!'
This is the cabled yoke of a tunic. Nice and warm and wintry. Hopefully done soon.
And while we're talking of Mermaid, her winter coat... is still waiting... My dress is almost ready, one more evening at sewing class or at home and I'm done! Then I'll get started on the coat...

A while ago, on the Dutch RAK group at Ravelry, one of our members asked for some assistance with some sock knitting. She said she'd love to have homeknit socks, but had never managed to knit a pair herself. So, Aal and I came to the rescue. Within 3 days of sending off the yarn, she had her first pair of socks back from Aal. That woman is so amazingly fast!!! My socks took a bit longer, mainly because I had to rip back a few times.  Knitting late at night, having to calculate while knitting, bad lightling... etc... But, eventually, they did get done!!! I suggested knitting her some Skew socks, as with the self-striping yarn she sent me, I thought the effect would be super cool. And it turned out great, even though I was a bit miffed to see that the colour depth was not the same throughout the ball of yarn. Luckily this only becomes really apparent in the leg part, which most people have under their trousers ;) A few pictures of the socks still here... See the difference?

Back from our holiday to Norn Iron

We're still buzzing, people. Totally loved it! It was mint! After what had felt like way too long we finally were able to hug our friends Damien, Katrina, Mark, Orla, and Alistair, have granny Mary-Ann spoil the kids rotten, and just enjoy being 'back'. Because that is how it felt. We stayed in a beautiful apartment in Portrush, with enough bedrooms to accommodate us and granny Mary-Ann, a massive kitchen where I actually cooked as well, next to a train stop, which made travelling a breeze, and five minutes from the West Strand. Heaven! We went to the Giant's Causeway, explored Portrush, enjoyed the beach and many of the cafés and playgrounds around town, and travelled to Coleraine and Portstewart. The kids absolutely loved it, and we were all in tears when the plane took off and we flew home again... But, we're making plans to relocate! Shetland - day 3 - Monday October 8

Our third day in Shetland, and a very special one. Not only my wee boy Samuel celebrated his birthday - he turned 6 - but Monique as well. So while I phoned home early in the morning to sing Happy Birthday to my son, Monique had her own choir on the phone ;) After a quick breakfast, we set out for Lerwick, and on the way there we decided to go for a walk along the beach first, before venturing into town. Wearing my Shetland hat, which became a very welcome, warm and trusty companion The cemetery at the Knab We drove around Breiwick Bay and parked our car at the Knab, a natural promontory facing Bressay, where there are several relics from WWII and also a huge cemetery, with some amazing and beautiful headstones.
